<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">(English version at the bottom of the page)</span></em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
The form versus the content</em></a> ).</span></li>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;"><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/2017/11/15/through-my-eyes/">The T.M.E project</a> that I started at the end of last year was a reminder to you, a way to show a bit of how I operate in the street. For this I use a GoPro type camera mounted on my Ricoh GRD IV. I have not done a lot of videos yet. It must be said that it changes a lot things to handle the video. On the one hand, you try to always have your camera level so that the video is readable and on the other hand, you should also pay attention to what is around you to try to take pictures. In the end, you are not focused on either of the two things and it makes things complicated. It must also be added that everyone sees you in the street and throws you interrogative glances &#8230; Forget the discretion.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Nevertheless, I find these videos interesting and it allows you to see a few places where I take pictures. The type of architecture in my city, the light and of course the streets. As for photos, they are not memorable, but this is not the purpose of the approach. I recently went out to do a little street session with my 21 mm and I thought a little video would be interesting. The 21 mm is a little less wide than the focal length of my action cam, but it is quite similar in rendering. I did not stay very long in Aix.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In this first video, I&#8217;m on Cours Mirabeau, main street of my city. There are a lot of people, but this is not a place that I particularly like, but I just hang around at this moment because a café is under construction and there can be interesting situations. This is where I made these photos, one of which illustrated my last blog (<a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/2018/01/23/the-form-versus-the-content/"><em>The form versus the content</em></a>).</span></li>

<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In this second video, I went to Albertas Square, a very nice place in the historic city center. <p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">(English version at the bottom of the page)</span></em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-1" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2553 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860.jpg" alt="0025860" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025860-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-2" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2548 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg" alt="0025705" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: 24pt;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">If your pictures aren&#8217;t good enough, you&#8217;re not close enough ! &#8211; Robert Capa &#8211;</span></span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: 24pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">Look for leading lines.</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-5" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2557 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg" alt="0025972" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">Shoot from a low perspective. </span></p>
</blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-6" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2560 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg" alt="0025560" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">Layers, layers, layers&#8230;</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-7" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2549 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg" alt="0025713" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">It&#8217;s been almost 2 years since I use the 18mm (28 mm Full Frame Equivalent) in the street. My eye has become used to this focal length. I instinctively know what my frame is, which allows me to shoot blindly even if it&#8217;s not my favorite. The wide angle is not easy to grasp in Street Photography. You have a great depth of field and the angle of view is massive (75 °). A photo can quickly be ruined if an unwanted element is in the frame. As I&#8217;m pretty nil in composition, I have overcome this difficulty by doing essentially close up. And for that to be striking, you have to be very close to people.</span></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">One of the guys who impresses me and uses the wide angle is <a href="https://www.facebook.com/yiannisyiasaris/">Yiannis Yiasaris</a>. He understood everything about using such a focal length. Moreover he goes even further by using an adapter that allows him to shoot in Ultra Wide (I guess 21 mm Full Frame). You can get a glimpse of his work here. In fact, he just released a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155855448449098&amp;set=a.427010219097.201455.685769097&amp;type=3&amp;theater">Photobook: Familiar Strangers</a>. I can not advise you, but at the moment, the first 100 copies were quickly sold. Contact him for a copy of the next delivery ! His work made me want to shoot at the Ultra Wide too.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-11" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2548 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg" alt="0025705" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025705-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">So I equipped my Ricoh GRD IV with a 21mm conversion lens (90 ° viewing angle). I got for 170 € by counting the ring of adaptation and the optical complement. Much cheaper than the 14 mm (same focal) from Fuji &#8230; Mounted on my Ricoh, the whole set is quite massive and the weight at the head of the camera is important. Hard to shoot with one hand.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough ! – Robert Capa –</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">I felt that I could not photograph people more closely with my Ricoh GRD IV, and I quickly realized that with the optical complement 21 mm, we had to get closer because otherwise people are lost in the frame ! The result is quite spectacular. We really feel like immersed in the photographed scene. I also had fun taking pictures of details using the macro function of my camera. I am impressed by the piqué of the photos. This optics is really good.</span></p>

<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-13" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2558 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487.jpg" alt="0025487" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025487-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">Look for leading lines.</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">It&#8217;s already true as a composition rule, but it&#8217;s even more so when you use an Ultra Wide Angle. This focal length exaggerates everything and you have to know how to use that. I have for the moment made only one session with this focal length. It is not easy to explain, but it looks as if this focal sucks the photographed scene. It gives a lot of strength to the photo.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-14" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2557 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg" alt="0025972" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025972-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">Shoot from a low perspective.</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">I already use my Ricoh GRD IV that way. I rarely shoot with the camera at eye level. Nothing to do with not taking the photographic act. No, the simple reason why I almost always shoot with the camera at the level of the torso (even see the hip) is to have a lower perspective and give more strength to the photo. It happens to crouch, but I have a few years of problems at the knees &#8230; With the 21 mm, if you shoot at ground level, the effect is insane ! A feast for the eyes, but a torture for my knees &#8230;</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-15" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2560 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg" alt="0025560" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025560-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 24pt;">Layers, layers, layers &#8230;</span></p></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">It may be the most complicated thing to do. I already have trouble doing it with a wide angle. Do not talk about the Ultra Wide Angle &#8230; I think it takes time to master. In any case it is not an output that I will snap the photo with crazy layers. But it&#8217;s interesting as a step. It forces you to think about the picture, to compose it. This is one of my shortcomings and I think that using this 21 mm optics will make me better in composition.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-image-16" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2549 size-full" src="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg" alt="0025713" width="1620" height="1080" title="Going Wide !" srcset="https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713.jpg 1620w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.jeffchanemouyephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/0025713-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">I had a lot of fun shooting at 21mm. I must say that the first minutes were destabilizing. I lost all reference and I did not know how to shoot with this focal length. Little by little, I began to grasp the field of vision. When it came time to go home, I was disappointed to stop taking photos. The late afternoon light was beautiful and you had to stop &#8230; It&#8217;s been a long time since I was so excited by the time spent in the street. I&#8217;m not talking about the result, &#8220;keepers&#8221; or &#8220;Glory Shots&#8221;, but about the photographic act. It&#8217;s crazy how good the change is. I have long considered that my focal length was 28 mm and nothing else. Note this is surely true ! But I really enjoyed shooting with the 21 mm. Besides I intend to keep a moment on my Ricoh GRD IV. </span></p>
