I knew that July would be a fairly quiet month in terms of photography. Fewer opportunities despite the children being on holiday. And indeed, that proved to be the case. Nevertheless, as I try to make a point of sharing with you the few photos taken during this month, here they are. In terms of quality and quantity, it’s very light!

Given my chronic lack of inspiration to write a Blog, I’ve decided to share with you the photos I consider the most interesting from the previous month. A few years ago, I also did this in the form of a slideshow. At the moment, I don’t think I have enough photos to put together a slideshow … I’m going to try to be regular over the next few months to keep this monthly rendez-vous going. So let’s start with June, which saw me take very few photos. I was saved by an outing to the Grand Boucan, the annual mega-carnival that attracts a lot of people.
Continue reading June 2025 HighlightsIt’s perhaps a bit shameful to confess it, but I listened to and loved this Britney Spears song back in the day. I wasn’t very young at the time (25), but the clip was very catchy, with a concentration of American pop culture in just over 3 minutes. Our schools in France have absolutely nothing in common with American schools, with their lockers in the corridor. It’s a cliché that comes up a lot in American films and TV series. To come back to the song, there have been many covers of it by many artists. You can listen to Travis’ cover here.
Continue reading Oops Baby I did it againSince I came back from Vietnam, almost 3 months ago, I haven’t been very assiduous about street photography. I’ve had a lot of things to sort out and taking photos wasn’t really high on my list of priorities. As is often the case, the less I do, the less I want to do. Didn’t I miss it? Yes, a little, but as on my trip to Thailand, Vietnam was such a photographic orgy that I was still full of it, even weeks after our return to Reunion Island. I’ve only shown you a tiny part of what I did there. Between the purely street photos and the ‘family’ photos, I really photographed until I was sick of it. Which probably explains the diet I subconsciously imposed on myself when I got home.

Continue reading Fuck off YouTubeWhat an enigmatic title! What these two brands have in common is that they are closely linked to Street Photography. But they’re not the only ones. There are also other iconic brands like Leica. If you see a street photographer in the street, chances are they have a Leica, Ricoh or Fujifilm. Leica is a benchmark for photojournalism and street photography. Ricoh’s GRs were made popular by a certain Daido Moriyama. As for Fujifilm, they are the latest to appear on the very juicy Street Photography market. The X100 series, which came onto the market in 2011, needs no introduction. Fujifilm was largely inspired by the Leica M for its X100 series. There are other brands, of course, but these three clearly dominate the market.
Continue reading Ricoh meets FujifilmApril 2018. 7 years ago, John Harper and I decided to each write a Blog on the same subject. Form versus Content. You can read the post here. John is a photographer I really like. As well as being a very good photographer, he’s also someone who could be described as erudite when it comes to Street Photography. Even if, as he says, his blogs sometimes go off in all directions, there’s always something in them that’s directly or indirectly related to Street Photography that gives food for thought. For me, his prose is at least as good as his photos (he’ll tell you that his work is crap… Don’t believe him!). He’s also one of the few photographers I was able to meet in person when I spent ten days or so in Bristol (UK), not far from the city where he usually works: Bath. We’d talked about the idea of writing again, not really four hands, but each working on a common subject.

Continue reading A glimpse of VietnamI know you’ve probably been waiting to see the photos I took in Vietnam during our recent trip, but I thought it would be a good idea to start 2025 with a few photos of the streets of Saint-Denis, where most of my work is done. It’s not even a week since we landed after a journey of almost 24 hours through the airports of ConDao, Saigon and Bangkok. I’ll come back later on to this trip, which went beyond my expectations. Not only in terms of the places we visited, but also photographically speaking.
