Lost and Found.

(English version at the bottom of the page)

Lost and Found.

Yesterday was a special day. Very close friends went to work in New Caledonia. We’ve known each other for almost 20 years. I was not particularly sad to see them leave. I saw this rather as a great opportunity for them to go there for new adventures. We had come to the airport for a last goodbye. Once the flight left, we got back promptly as we were expected to have lunch. The children were able to meet their friends and have fun all afternoon. When came the sleeping time, Ronan my 4 years old little boy, claimed Babouche, his security blanket (doudou).

After stirring the whole house and searched all the cars, we arrived at the catastrophic conclusion that Doudou was lost … We tried to remember this morning spent at the airport to find out where we could have lost it. Here is a last picture where we see him with his security blanket.

Ronan on his side was inconsolable. Even if he claims it a little less lately, he still needs it in big grief and also to sleep. He nevertheless agreed to sleep with another Doudou for that night. The next morning, after making a phone call to the lost property department, we were reassured because Babouche was safe and sound at the airport! That’s why on Monday instead of going to Marseille as planned to make photographs, I had to run to the airport to get back Babouche! Ah yes I had not told you yet, I had with me Joachim, my big boy. A little tired, he complained of having a stomach ache, so I had to drag him there too…

We picked up Ronan’s Doudou. Relief not to have lost it. Joachim getting better, we visited the airport a bit. He to see the planes, I to make some photographs.

I had never thought of going out to the airport to take pictures. I’ve put it on my list. It is always very bright, modern and with people everywhere! Ideal for Street Photography !

In short we did not linger too long. Joachim being a little tired, we had to go back so that he could rest. This misadventure with Babouche, will at least make me want to spend more time at the airport to take photos.

Ah yes here is a picture of Babouche. With his etiquette on his paw, it looks like a piece of conviction in a criminal proceeding !

  1. Guilty as charged, getting lost at airports is not good, even for security toys! The things we do for love Jeff, though as usual there’s always a silver lining and as I was saying recently – airports, railway stations etc are ideal for Street Photography, full of people, light and architecture.
Great story, great photographs and above all else – Ronan and everyone else can sleep again!
    Warmest regards. John.

    1. What a relief to have found Babouche ! Before sleeping we had a deal with Ronan. If Babouche was still missing after our research, he would accept to have him replaced by another similar safety toy. But thanks to God, we manage to bring him back home !
Speaking of photography, even if I’ve already been in Railways Stations and Airport, I’ve never considered theses places as ideal for Street. After your chronicle (Mind the Gap) and my little misadventure, I think I need to reconsider the thing ! Anyway, I went today at the airport and I’ve had an identity check by policemen, because I was taking photographs in teh airport… But that’s another story ! 😉
